主要从事海草床碳存储及其对人类活动的响应机制和海草床生态修复研究。近年来主要研究成果如下:通过大范围的野外观测与调查,发现我国南海海草床有机碳库具有较高的稳定性,底质类型是决定其稳定性的关键,富营养化会削弱其稳定性;从海草床水体、凋落物和沉积物三个层次,揭示了富营养化通过诱导“共代谢效应”的发生,从而削弱海草床有机碳储量的机制;研发了适用于热带海草床的无污染生态修复技术,并构建了热带海草种子和幼苗的最适移植技术,使热带海草移植存活率从20%提升到70%以上,并在热带退化海草床进行了移植修复示范,为我国蓝碳生态系统碳汇功能的保护和提升提供支撑。
