近年来围绕河口、海湾和岛礁等生态系统生物多样性、群落结构与功能和环境因子及其相互作用,主持国家科技基础课题、中科院先导专项课题,农业行业公益项目课题,国家重点基础研究发展计划(973)子课题,国家自然科学基金等科研项目,揭示了全球变化影响下,浮游生物的群落对典型气候事件的响应机制,溶解有机营养驱动近海浮游生物群落结构变动的关键机制;发现铝可增加海洋碳汇,在地球历史气候变化过程中发挥重要作用,提出了关于全球气候变化的创新理论“铁-铝假说”,在Limnology&Oceanography, JGR-oceans,Water Research,Applied & Environmental Microbiology, Biogeosciences,Biogeochemistry,Coral Reefs,Science of Total Environment等国际主流期刊发表学术论文150余篇,合著专著3本,参编论著9部,获9项专利授权和软件著作权。
